Lake Mary Florida is located about 25 minutes north of downtown Orlando and is considered one of the more popular places to live. It is been voted #73 as one of the best places to live in the entire state of Florida.
Why do we love it so much? Well, whether you are a retiree, family with school age children, single professional, newly married couple, or the business type, there’s something for everyone that’s appealing about Lake Mary.
In several websites across the Inter-web, Lake Mary received a Day for its overall grade. It literally didn’t get anything less than a B for public schools, housing, families, crime, and safety, nightlife and diversity.
This small town of just under 16,000 residents also has a pretty affordable housing market. The median home value is about $250,000 with the median rent at about $1470. It’s also got a good mix of renters and owners. Approximately 77% of the population own their own home and 23% rent.
It was rated #5 out of 325 suburbs for some of the best schools in Florida and #12 out of 324 communities for the best suburbs to buy a house. It’s rated #17 as the best suburb to raise a family of over 324 communities, neighborhoods, and suburbs throughout Florida.
Lake Mary also received an A on diversity based on ethnic and economic diversity. 14% of residents have their masters degree or higher and 29% of the bachelor’s degree compared to the national average of only 19%. The median household income is about $85,000, up from the national average of only 54,000.
Nearly every school in the Lake Mary school district received high marks from parents, teachers, and even students alike.
So, what to the locals say about Lake Mary?
“Lake Mary is a higher end suburb just 20 minutes north of downtown Orlando. The schools are part of the Seminole County public school district, which is one of the best-known districts for their well performing schools. It is a very safe, rarely heard on the news suburb. I could walk the town in the middle of the night and feel safe. Lake Mary is extremely family-friendly as most neighborhoods are filled with kids of all ages. Living in Lake Mary is a tad more expensive than living in other towns in central Florida is a communities are newer and more developed. It is not as diverse of the city is surrounding Longwood and Sanford the commute is relatively easy as it is a smaller town but if you are on Lake Mary Boulevard during rush-hour expect a few delays.”
