Delaney Park
Delaney Park is a small neighborhood in downtown Orlando just south of Highway 408 and east of Interstate 4. It’s south of the Lake Cherokee neighborhood and north of the Wadeview Park neighborhood surrounding parts of Lake Lancaster and Lake Davis. It stretches from E. Gore St. south to E. Kaley St. and from Delaney Avenue to S. Mills Ave.
This sleepy, quiet neighborhood just south of downtown is about one-quarter square-mile and home to about 1000 residents. Delaney Park along with its neighbor Crystal Lake is historically significant and progressive neighborhoods in Orlando. There are several parks perfect for picnics and family outings, beautiful cypress and oak trees, and a relaxed an inviting setting. Most of the homes were built between the 1930s and the 1950s, several of which have been handed down to the next generation. There are beautiful sidewalks, brick-lined streets, and easy access to shopping, dining and the business district called SoDo, the Downtown South Neighborhood Improvement District.
The average age of homeowners in this neighborhood is about 40 to 45 years old and 72% of residents are homeowners. People love this area for its peaceful and quiet community, dog-friendly parks and streets and its historic charm. Delaney Park itself, located at 1055 Delaney Ave., is open 5 AM to sunset every day and is one of Orlando’s oldest parks. Originally called Duckworth Park, the name was changed to Delaney Park in 1959 and features over 7 acres of beautiful oak shaded areas, sports fields, playgrounds, picnic facilities and open spaces.

Home prices from this community range from about $400,000-$900,000. Several homes border Delaney Park and Lake Lancaster. It is primarily a residential community but is just a short drive to shops and restaurants close by and the Boone high school is a couple of blocks from most homes in this area. Other schools that serve this area are the Blankner K – 8 and Kaley elementary school.
