What is Horizons West?

Horizons West Orlando is the largest master planned community in Central Florida history. The idea of Horizons West started in 1992 when the owners of citrus groves brainstormed on how to make revenue after their citrus groves froze in the winter.

The concept of Horizons West was to plan and control growth that would create harmonious living between residents and nature with separate but connected communities.

Horizon West will cover 23,000 acres (38 square miles) and become home to 60,000 residents. It will be 10 times the size of Baldwin Park and 3 times the size of Winter Park. Horizons West is a true growth area.

Where is Horizons West?

Horizons West is located in West Orange County in Florida. It covers parts of Orlando, Winter Garden, and Windermere. Horizons West will include 7 Villages, and in the Town Center Village will be Hamlin. Hamlin will be the town center of Horizons West covering 640 acres. Hamlin will have 5.7 million square feet of office space, 2.1 million square feet of retail space, 384,000 square feet of warehouse and light industrial space, and 1,200 hotel rooms.

Hamlin town center in Horizons West will border the 260,000 acres of Lake Hancock. It will have boardwalks along the lake, waterfront restaurants, and a boat dock. In addition, there will be grocery stores, quick service restaurants, a drug stores and other retail. Florida Hospital will be adding a medical center and numerous schools are to be built as expansion occurs.

What’s happening in Horizons West?

When the Independence Parkway exit opened off the 429 Expressway 2013, new construction homes began BOOMING in Horizons West. There are more choices in new construction at Horizons West than any other area in Central Florida. There are 17 communities currently being built with about 10 more communities coming to Horizons West.
