Lake Mary is about 30 minutes north of downtown Orlando and is considered one of the best places to live in the Orlando area. Nestled in Seminole County, Lake Mary is home to about 15,000 residents and rated by Money Magazine as the #4 best places to live in America. Founded originally in 1923, it has one of the oldest continuously operating Chamber of Commerce is in the state of Florida. Because of the boom of the Walt Disney World in the 1970s, Lake Mary slowly became transformed into a beautiful bedroom community and was officially incorporated in 1973.
The city of Lake Mary has their focus on a distinct sense of community where residents can both live, work, and play in a safe environment. Lake Mary is one of the fastest growing areas in central Florida and continues to be a top location for high-tech businesses, tourism, affordable housing, master-planned residential communities, and excellent schools. The crime rate in Lake Mary is one of the lowest in the states and has one of the most top-notch fire departments anywhere in the Orlando Metro area. Their parks and recreational facilities are beautifully maintained and offer a little something for everyone.

The Lake Mary Farmers Market is one of the highlights to our small city. It’s located in Central Park at the Lake Mary City Hall to the corner of Lake Mary Boulevard and 4thStreet. So what makes Lake Mary so great?
Well, you’re about 40 minutes to just about everything you would want including Daytona Beach, Disney World, and close to some of the best lakes in the area. It’s just five minutes to the Orlando Sanford International Airport and because of its easy access to Interstate 4, it makes a great destination for those that need to commute or work in downtown Orlando.
Lake Mary also has some of the best restaurants in the immediate area. One of my favorites happens to be F & D Kitchen and Bar. This fabulous American restaurant serves up some tasty food such as their Panzanella Salad and a mean Moscow Mule. Not to be outdone by their charcuterie plate and killer Bloody Marys.
Lake Mary is home to the AAA headquarters and is one of the largest business employers in the area. The Verizon Financial Ctr., Mitsubishi Motors, along with other nationally known companies have headquarters or bases in Lake Mary. This keeps our job growth at an all-time high and employer’s don’t have to commute too far to work.
Schools
Lake Mary is part of the Seminole County public school district and is served by seven public schools, five private schools, and one state college. There are seven elementary schools including the Seminole Science Charter School, for middle schools, two high schools, and several college branches such as the Seminole State College, the University of Central Florida, and the Valencia Community College. The Lake Mary preparatory school is also part of the Seminole County school district.
Lake Mary Real Estate Market
Because of our sleepy, bedroom community, this is an ideal suburban community with an emphasis on single-family homes and private residences. The median home value is approximately $290,000 but there are a variety of condos, rental properties, townhouses, and larger lots to choose from. There’s an active adult golf course community popular with retirees.
Condominiums can start around $120,000 where gorgeous single-family homes with five bedrooms are pretty decently priced at around $430,000. Of course, towards the golf course area and state park homes can run over the $1 million mark. Those on the east side of the freeway tend to be a little less expensive but there’s also condominiums, apartments, and townhouses spread out throughout the city as well.
Basically, there’s a price point for just about any home buyer. Lake Mary sounds like a community you’d like to be a part of, start your home search here for free.
