Lake Nona is getting a WALMART

 

Lake Nona Walmart is coming. The big box discount retailer has plans for its upcoming store on Narcoossee Road in southeast Orlando. This is a first for Lake Nona and just like the character of Lake Nona, it will be special.

 

This Lake Nona Walmart will have three drive-up lanes for customers to pick up medication from the pharmacy and also overall merchandise.

 

Modern Conveniences at Lake Nona Walmart

 

Here’s how it will work:  Customers will order their goods online.  Once it comes in, they will get an e-mail confirming the arrival of their order.  They will then drive to the store’s parking lot kiosks located under canopies to check in with proper ID.  Then they will pull over to a designated area where a Lake Nona Walmart employee will bring your purchase.

The Lake Nona Walmart will be in Lake Nona Landing and will include big box, small shops, restaurants and more. Retail announcements come as Lake Nona’s developer prepares to unveil plans for more than one million square feet of shopping, dining and entertainment.  Two Marriott hotels recently opened.

 

 

Travistock, the Lake Nona developer has preliminary designs for a town center model.  This model will include a movie theatre, a fitness center, shops and dining with streets resembling a true downtown.

 

 

Blackfin partners also plans to build five outparcels totaling about 30,000 square feet of retail space just south of Lake Nona High School. Conceptual plans for the 7-acre project dubbed Blackfin Shoppes at Lake Nona show two retail buildings, a fast-food restaurant, a bank and a full-service restaurant, according to a marketing package.  The commercial aspect of Lake Nona is booming.

 

Not everyone wants a Lake Nona Walmart

 

A spokesman for Lake Nona Walmart said that they recognize that Lake Nona is a unique, fast-growing community and the store will be representative of those needs. However, not everyone sees it that way.

 

Change.org is collecting signatures to oppose this big  growth.  The complaints/reasons for the objection is

 

• Too much traffic
• Not compatible with the lifestyle of Lake Nona
• There is no need as there are 3 other Walmarts within 15 miles of Lake Nona
